Asterousia (Greek: Αστερούσια) is a former municipality in the Heraklion regional unit, Crete, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Archanes-Asterousia, of which it is a municipal unit.[2] The municipal unit has an area of 203.420 km2 (78.541 sq mi).[3] Population 4,943 (2021). The seat of the municipality was in Pyrgos. Other villages include Charakas.
