Christopher Bailey (born 29 May 2000) is an American track and field athlete. He has won medals in the Athletics World Championships and World Athletics Indoors Championships in the 4x400 metres relay.[1]
Early life
From Atlanta, Georgia he attended Carver High School, Mississippi Valley State University, and the University of Tennessee, before attending the University of Arkansas.[2][3]
Career
In January 2023, Bailey set a new Arkansas Razorbacks College record over 400m of 45:09 to break the previous record of 45:29 set in 2005 by Terry Gatson.[4] Bailey won the NCAA Indoors 4x400m title as part of the Arizona Razorbacks in March 2023 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.[5]
Competing at the 2023 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Bailey qualified fastest from the 400m heats.[6] He then reached the final with the fifth fastest time.[7] He was selected for the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest in August 2023.[8]
He was a silver medalist running the anchor leg for the American 4x400m relay team at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow in March 2024.[9]
In April 2024, he was selected as part of the American team for the 2024 World Athletics Relays in Nassau, Bahamas.[10]
