La Football League Third Division 1995-1996, conosciuta anche con il nome di Endsleigh Third Division per motivi di sponsorizzazione, è stato il 38º campionato inglese di calcio di quarta divisione, nonché il 4º con la denominazione di Third Division.
La stagione regolare ha avuto inizio il 12 agosto 1995 e si è conclusa il 4 maggio 1996, mentre i play off si sono svolti tra il 12 ed il 25 maggio 1996. Ad aggiudicarsi la vittoria è stato il Preston North End, al primo successo nella categoria. Le altre tre promozioni in Football League Second Division sono state invece conseguite dal Gillingham (2º classificato, che torna dopo otto anni nella serie superiore), dal Bury (3º classificato) e dal Plymouth Argyle (vincitore dei play off).
Capocannonieri del torneo sono stati Steve White (Hereford United) e Andy Saville (Preston North End) con 29 reti a testa.
Stagione
Novità
Al termine della stagione precedente, insieme ai campioni di lega del Carlisle United, salì direttamente in Second Division anche il Walsall (2º classificato). Mentre il Chesterfield che giunse al 3º posto, ottenne la promozione attraverso i play-off. L'Exeter City, ultimo classificato, riuscì invece ad evitare una seconda retrocessione consecutiva e fu riammesso al posto del Macclesfield Town (campione della Conference League), al quale fu negata la partecipazione alla Football League Third Division, perché non in possesso di uno stadio omologato per ospitare gare della Football League.
Queste tre squadre furono rimpiazzate dalla cinque retrocesse dalla Football League Second Division: Cambridge United, Plymouth Argyle (relegato per la prima volta nel quarto livello del calcio inglese), Cardiff City, Chester City e Leyton Orient, che riportarono a ventiquattro, il numero delle partecipanti al campionato.
Formula
Le prime tre classificate venivano promosse direttamente in Football League Second Division, insieme alla vincente dei play off a cui partecipavano le squadre giunte dal 4º al 7º posto. Mentre l'ultima classificata retrocedeva in Conference League.
