Cveće za Aldžernona (engl. Flowers for Algernon) je priča iz 1959. godine koja je 1966. godine pretočena u roman američkog pisca Danijela Kiza (engl. Daniel Keyes).

O delu

Čarli Gordon je glavni lik, čovek sa niskim koeficijentom inteligencije. Izabran je kao savršen kandidat za eksperimentalni hirurški zahvat. Naučnici veruju da će zbog operacije Gordon da postane pametan i inteligentan. Prva testiranja su obavljena na mišu Aldžernonu koji uspešno rešava zadatke u lavirintu. Posle operacije Gordonu postupno raste inteligencija. Dostiže neverovatnu sposobnost shvatanja činjenica i razumevanja 20 stranih jezika. Laboratorijski miš odjednom počinje čudno da se ponaša.

Priča i roman

Priča je prvi put publikovana u Magazinu fantazije i naučne fantastike (engl. The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction). Dobila je 1960. godine nagradu Hugo za najbolju kratku priču.[2] Roman je prodat u tiražu od 5 miliona primeraka. Originalnu kratku priču ocenjuju kao jednu od stilski najbolje napisanih kratkih naučnofantastičnih priča.[3] U nastavku karijere Dejvid Kiz nikad više nije ponovio uspeh svoje priče i prvog romana.

  • Čarli Gordon, glavni lik rođen sa niskim koeficijentom inteligencije koji posle operacije postaje ekstremno inteligentan;

Adaptacija

Po romanu je 1968. godine snimljen film Čarli. Film je režirao Ralf Nelson, a glavni glumac Robert Klif je nagrađen Oskarom.[3] Posle toga je napravljen i mjuzikl, pozorišni komad, radio-drama i moderni ples.[4]

Iz romana

PS recite prof. nemuru da ne bude namćor kad mu se ljudi smeju pa će imati više drugara. Lako je imati drugare ako pustiš da ti se ljudi smeju. Tamo de idem ću da imam mnogo drugara. PS ako može stavite cveće aldžernonu na grob iza u dvorište.[4]
