Krleži (Acari ili Acarina) su takson paukolikih zglavkara koji sadrže grinje i krpelje. Raznovrsnost potklase Acari je izuzetna i njihova fosilna istorija seže barem u rani devonski period.[1] Akarolozi (ljudi koji proučavaju potklasu Acari) predložili su složen skup taksonomskih redova za klasifikaciju grinja. U većini modernih tretmana, Acari se smatraju potklasom Arachnida i sastoje se od dva ili tri nadreda ili reda: Acariformes (ili Actinotrichida), Parasitiformes (ili Anactinotrichida), i Opilioacariformes; kasniji se često smatra podgrupom unutar Parasitiformes. Monofilija potklase Acari je predmet rasprava, a njen odnos prema drugim paučnicima nije nimalo jasan.[2] U starijim tretmanima, podgrupe iz Acarina bile su stavljene su rang reda, ali kako su njihove vlastite podele postale jasnije, njihovo tretiranje na nivou nadreda je uobičajenije.

Taksonomija i filogenija

Filogenija potklasa Acari je još uvek predmet rasprava i nekoliko taksonomskih šema je predloženo za njihovu klasifikaciju. Treće izdanje (2009) standardnog udžbenika Priručnik akarologije koristi sistem sa šest redova, grupisanih u tri nadreda:[3]

Nedavna genetička istraživanja su prouzrokovala promenu u shemi imenovanja, i nedavne publikacije su promenile nadred Parasitiformes u red.[4] Druga nedavna istraživanja ukazuju na to da je potklasa Acari polifiletična, pri čemu su krpelji i pauci međusobno srodniji od krpelja i grinja.[5] Kladogram se zasniva na radu Daberta et al. iz 2010. godine, koji su koristili molekularne podatke. Iz te studije je proisteklo da je nadred Acariformes sestrinjski sa redom Solifugae (kamelji pauci), dok su Parasitiformes u sestrinskom odnosu sa Pseudoscorpionida.[6]
