Značajniji su mu filmovi Diner (1982), The Natural (1984), Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), Bugsy (1991) i Wag the Dog (1997).[1][2][3] Za dramu Rain Man (1988) dobio je Oscar za režiju i Zlatnog medvjeda na Berlinaleu.
